Solare Collegiate Charter School
Solare Collegiate Charter School prides itself on being an academically ambitious, purposefully structured, and consistently kind school community, with a strong focus on literacy, character, and student voice. In 2019, Excellent Schools New Mexico made a start-up capital grant to Solare Collegiate Charter School to help catalyze the school’s launch.
That same year, in partnership with Homewise, Solare Collegiate Charter School acquired 15 acres of land on Albuquerque’s Southwest Mesa to construct a new, permanent school building. Excellent Schools New Mexico made a zero-interest facility loan to Solare Collegiate Charter School’s affiliated nonprofit foundation, allowing the foundation to access low-interest facility debt from Raza Development Fund, a prominent Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that invests capital and creates financial solutions to increase opportunities for the Latino community and low-income families.
Solare Collegiate Charter School’s new building opened in 2020 and will allow the school to provide high-quality educations to 420 Albuquerque students.
